The medication to induce me was to be given for 12 hours, at 8:30 that night we stopped the medication, the doctor came in and said that I was in a better position than I had been in the morning, but I was only dilated to a 1! He would come in Sunday morning, break my water, and Sunday night we should have a baby. I was having contractions all afternoon so the thought of having them all night until the next did not sound fun. He ordered medication to help me sleep through the night, but I wanted to wait it out for a while. Lund & Kathy, Alex, Todd & Sarah, and Michael & Rochelle had all come to visit during the day. Poor Thomas I'm sure was bored out of his mind but he didn't leave me so that comforted me. I was so frustrated after the doctor left, contractions were really strong from like 3 pm and had not stopped, because they were so strong I had to stay in bed on the monitor. So every time I needed to use the restroom Thomas had to help me un-hook the monitor. So when Kathy, Lund, & Sarah came to visit again around 10 I was exhausted, I had not slept well the night before, & could not sleep all day, and Dr did not give me the news I expected to hear.
I was so upset I started crying & Kathy & Sarah totally helped me out, they said it was normal and that everyone feels like this, and just gave me re assurance. I'm so thankful for them! So they left so I could rest, the contractions continued all night and started getting worse, so the nurses offered stadol, it helped I slept for the first hour between contractions but by the 2 hour I couldn't sleep, so I called the nurses they said that I was at the point I cold have a epidural. At first I said I was undecided if I was it, but by this point I wanted it!! So the anesthesiologist was in with a C-section so as soon as he was done he would come in to see me, what seemed like forever I called and asked how long it would be, if I had an amount of time I could focus on that they said and 30 minutes, so when they came in the set up for the epidural I said "I'm sorry but I feel like I need to push, I have felt like this for a while but it's getting worse." They said OK and checked me and they said "you're right your ready to push" She sent the other nurse to call the doctor, and gave me the bad news no epidural for me it was too late. That made me cry I thought I needed it, so Thomas called his family it was about 2:20 am, ans 2:56 pm She was here! All our family came in to see Charly, Thomas, and me. It was exciting. I was excited that Thomas was going to get to watch the nurse take Charly to the nursery & give her a bath. So he went to the nursery and I moved to out permanent room(well 2 day permanent). Around 5 am we slept and being new parents set our alarms because Charly was going to need to eat at 7 am. We got to go home Monday afternoon.
